New age is all the rage at Loyola Marymount

You'll be sorry you missed this one.

Posted at the new L.A. Archdiocesan website designed by Mahony's openly 'gay' deacon:

Deepak Chopra To Speak At LMU
Dr. Deepak Chopra, internationally known leader, author, and speaker in the field of mind-body healing and well-being, will be honored as the inaugural recipient of the Doshi Family Bridgebuilder Award for his work synthesizing East-West polarities, particularly in medicine and spirituality.

Yes, this new ager has been welcomed in my dissenting diocese too. Do you forget that the 'archdiocese of LA' is not Roman Catholic but only gives lip service?

this is nothing new
I was a student at this fine institute from 1972 to 1973. I was actually rec'd into the church and married on that campus! I remember that along with the very enthustiastic Charismatic group on campus (later banned, if memory serves)there were also busily proselytizing trancendental meditators and similar new age sorts.

JOSEPH D'HIPPOLITO SAYS...

Alicia, you're saying that a Catholic university banned a Catholic Charismatic student group? Whatever for?

As far as Chopra is concerned, all I can say is that the "blessed episcopocracy" is more concerned about being intellectually fashionable than in proclaiming the Faith boldly and virtuously.

The issue isn't whether he should speak on a Catholic campus. The issue is whether anyone at LMU -- instructor or student -- is willing to compare seriously his ideas to the divine revelation the Church claims to uphold.

*That* is education, not just sucking up the prevailing atmosphere without question.
